I remember Python at one point changed this behavior. People complained that doing some float math would result in weird "errors" (unexpected results).

So they changed it to do this sort of guessing at a "correct" string output. And then people were happy. Ignorance is bliss?

That's right. Printing floating point numbers lies to you. If it sees a nice concise decimal representation within the precision error of the binary representation, it will print that out for you. But that's not what its bits contain.

The evacuation order was made “voluntary” a few hours later and we came back to the house. The fire is still burning but 50% contained. Hopefully winds don’t pick up and cause problems today.
