Ever wonder why most of the news you hear about horrible farm labor practices come from California?
It's the place with the best legal protections. It also the most workers who are legal US residents/citizens. They're able to speak out w/out being deported.

@SarahTaber_bww When I was working in New England the dairy farms were the white whale - EVERYONE knew shady stuff was happening, just as everyone knew doing anything was near impossible because they are so well protected politically (we tried, we failed)
