(TBF: my move and compensation change were planned before things shut down. But it’s still not a great look.)

You're competing with every other company in your cohort that is willing to hire remotes. These are probably, these days, the same companies you are competing with for on-site employees. Maybe you're not willing to pay SF prices for remotes yet, but if they are, that's the market
