Come to think of it -- Hangouts lets you mute a user's audio (for everyone). It's useful if they've walked away or are unknowingly broadcasting noise/conversation. Great for privacy.
Strangely I don't think they let you "mute" the camera. Could be an even bigger privacy issue.
