when they were designing the format for digital audio CDs, do you think there was ever any serious discussion around allowing tracks to lie about how long they were in order to support hidden tracks?
like if you put a CD in and the first ten tracks are three minutes long and the last one says it's twelve minutes, at that point you're not fooling anyone

ok so i watched the spock documentary (the spockumentary??) and they ... they actually did it.
they had a segment about slashfic.
it was pretty short but they had george takei patiently explaining it to adam nimoy with a barely disguised grin.
