• Page of Swords, which I've created with Krita. This card is about communication, curiosity, ideas, and speaking out. Sometimes even gossip. I've chosen a young energetic meerkat. The turbulence can be felt through its fur. Due to the overwhelming desire for adventure, it can't focus on everything, so this meerkat can't see the sword. It can be found in the background, looking like a shooting star, surrounding Earth behind the head of the Meerkat. Since I read that the page of swords is sometimes also seen as a spy, I thought it would be great to let it look slightly like an astronaut. Planet Earth resembles in this artwork the helmet of an astronaut slightly. Of course, we see the side of the globe where the Meerkat has its natural habitat. This little fella keeps everyone up to date. Even the clouds look here and there like meerkat companions. They are listening to what it has to say about the current state of this precious planet. The clouds around planet Earth could be seen as soundwaves to emphasize how much this young meerkat loves to communicate.

The thing I find remarkable about this, is that the Fuel Rats aren't a game feature. There are no rewards for being a fuel rat (in fact, it's policy to refuse payment if the recuee offers), except the intrinsic reward of helping people have a nice time.

Despite this, the fuel rats were one of the first "guilds" formed, if you want to call them that, and have been going strong for years. According to their stats, they have rescued 157 thousand stranded players, with a 96% success rate.

This morning for no obvious reason, I remembered the Fuel Rats.

Elite:Dangerous is an MMO space sim game, with a big galaxy in which you fly a spaceship doing stuff. Spaceships need fuel, which you buy at stations, or if you have a fuel scoop you can skim the surface of certain stars to get usable fuel.

Space is big though, and it's quite possible to run yourself low on fuel in a way that you can no longer warp to any inhabited system to refuel. At which point you're screwed.
