1. AfAm doesn't work. And white people's concerns are based on irrational fear.
2. Some other forces exert counterpressure to AfAm. Which is what the professor is addressing.

This is ultimately what I would like to understand better. How many white people are self-aware about the fact that their view of how the world works is based on a foundation of racist assumptions? What does it take to get them to see that? Why wouldn't they want to change that?

A lot of times it devolves into really tortured arguments. Lots of mental gymnastics trying to reconcile the notion that Black people have "advantages" with the reality that it's not born out in outcomes.

I decided to dive into this thread today. I knew it would be unlikely to get any kind of useful answers. But ultimately it was pretty instructive for me.

The short version is that many white people misunderstand Affirmative Action and greatly overestimate the impact it has.
