Ugh, 'rational logic'. I can't think of a better way to say that right now without implying other things that I don't want to bring into this, but I hate that way that reads in retrospect.

What were you thinking, me from ≤5 minutes ago?

@Maryxus ("Maryxus Maddly") replied to a tweet by Maryxus:

So the idea that it's wrong for public health officials to focus solely on what's best for the public health is just ridiculous.

Then again, expecting rational logic from a man who, last year, defended slavery as a 'necessary evil', is equally ridiculous. Joke's on us, I guess.

The US governmental system is, at least in theory, based on the idea that specific interests compete with each other. The thought was that if everyone worked towards their own benefit the resulting compromises would result in governance that was basically fair

On a less sarcastic note, of course they're only going to focus on what they think is in the best interest of public health. That's literally their job.

Of course, sozu is also fast enough and benchmarked to hell 😁 but this is mainly measured through how much time is spent actually handling a HTTP request (in general, a few microseconds)

@gcouprie ("Geoffroy Couprie") replied to a tweet by gcouprie:

You can have thousands of connected clients for a few dozen active sessions, and this will translate to a few megabytes of RAM 😎
Also when rejecting invalid traffic we don't even need those buffers, because that traffic should not hold useful resources

When it receives the request, it uses a buffer, but gives it back to the pool while waiting for the response. Then gets one back when the response is available, and gives back the buffer while waiting for the next request. Most of the time a session does not hold a buffer

One big insight in sozu is that HTTP is generally idle: request, do nothing, response, do nothing, repeat. So sozu allocates a small basic structure for the session, but network buffers are managed very precisely
