Just to put a fine point on it. This thread isn't really about Richard Spencer. He is a known quantity. The point is to highlight how so much of white America has no real interest in examining white supremacy for what it is. They play at it sometimes, but they know where to stop.

A lot of white people are terrified of that reckoning. Even if they don't know exactly where their wealth came from. They understand they didn't earn it. And they learn not to ask questions about exactly how their family came to possess it. But it is possible to know the answers.

So back to Richard Spencer. Now we know that Spencer understands all of this. He knows how he got his wealth. And he can see the winds shifting towards a conversation where people are asking of he should be allowed to keep it. He is terrified of that. A lot of white people are.
