Changing a community and a culture is so much harder to do than people think it is. We still have work to do of course. But it's heartening to take a moment and acknowledge the progress that has been made. It's hard to convey how different it feels today than it did 10 years ago.

I've been around a while. I remember who used to get all of the recognition. They were mostly men and mostly white. Some of them were (are) great, but many were toxic. We've been trying to get rid of "brilliant jerks" and instead choose people who are brilliant and not jerks.
