  1. be extra careful that you yourself do not forget others’ humanity despite the fact that many will actively choose to ignore yours. this is part of learning to sit cautiously in your own cynicism. it is a skill u have to practice, or it will slip away. it is so important.

  1. u will become jaded & cynical—again, esp if you’re a woman not looking to be hit on or called ugly by the entire internet. there is no cure but u can learn to sit cautiously, yet comfortably, in this state of being, & still allow good people in. u have to want to learn it tho.

@TracketPacer replied to a tweet by @TracketPacer:

  1. people will assume u are an expert at whatever it is u got popular doing (being funny, tech stuff, cooking, etc) & will start asking u to do things for them that reach outside your comfort zone. this can be good for u but only sometimes. u must learn how to say no… a LOT.

@TracketPacer replied to a tweet by @TracketPacer:

  1. u must interact w the platform differently now. the extended reach the algorithm gives u means u can potentially make or break someone else’s day, regardless of whether or not it is your intent. if u want to be a good person u cannot use the platform the same way anymore.

@TracketPacer replied to a tweet by @TracketPacer:

  1. if u create content, u will be over-corrected often, esp on technical topics (even the basic ones). if you’re a woman this will happen constantly, & then when u point it out many many ppl will either roll their eyes silently at u or directly deny your firsthand experience.

2a) everyone will deny this ⬆️ (some wont realize theyre doing it) but u will come to know it bc of how you’re treated. men will call u ugly when u post a video on, eg, auto-MDIX. or ask u out when u post yr website link with a professional photo of yrself shown. it is all u are.

  1. if u r a woman u r immediately placed into 1 of only 2 available categories: “fuckable” or “not-fuckable-enough”. to many u will only be thought of as whichever of those is chosen for u. to some, u will be more than that but all the other stuff u are will always come after it.

@TracketPacer replied to a tweet by @TracketPacer:

  1. people will frequently forget or stop caring that you’re a human being & treat u accordingly. of all the issues u will face, u must steel yrself against this one, first & foremost, or it will destroy your mental health.
