Racism in the military is/was very real. I worked in the spy world’s most secure buildings. Cipher locks kept everyone apart but when I was a Division chief w 150 cryptologists I had a “Fuck You, Nigger”sign hung on my desk. The command said my EO my complaints were the problem.

The amount of messages I’ve gotten from—mostly white people—saying they never experienced or saw racism when they were in the military has been astounding. No one ever called me the N-word when I was in the Marines for 8-years but positive some of my fellow service members have.
