These numbers are devastating. But it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Because these are the unmarked graves. There were full cemeteries as well, those whose bodies were sent home, and those they burned.

160 unmarked graves have been confirmed by Penelakut Tribe. This is the site of the Kuper Island Industrial school.
