good morning.
it's a great day to listen.
the experiences the world has to share with each of us are greater than we can ever hope to experience individually in one lifetime, so the experiences others offer are truly gifts.

That last one doesn't fit well with something optimized for the other two. I mean, you see people try to squeeze it in all the time regardless. But I think a social network optimized for the first two will never serve the interests of the last one very well.
And a network optimized for number 3 won't ever satisfy the needs of the first two modes.

This has probably been observed elsewhere by somebody more thoughtful, but it seems one of the (many) issues with "social media" is the mixing of incompatible modes. There seems to be at least three:
1. Passive receiving of the broadcasts of others (parasocial).
2. Striving to find and build an audience for your broadcasts.
3. Wanting to connect and interact with people one on one.The first two work well with frictionless, VC backed junk optimized for growth at all costs.

It's a little warm and muggy in the house. Kind of like how it looks in this recording studio where some terrific musicians are covering "Opposite People":
