TIL

1. us congress recently passed a law to make it illegal for ISPs to charge an equipment fee on hardware that you already own, yay

2. at&t fiber-to-the-home evades this by placing secret authentication keys into their otherwise standard combo wifi router + ont (fiber modem).

so you ahem, could, wink, use your own equipment, but the service won't work when you do 🤢

I see a lot no-context posts that amount to, "Random something crashing on my computer. [Expletive] Linux/FOSS!" So let me throw this out there:

I've been using Linux as my desktop environment personally and at work for almost a decade now. It's been a solid experience regardless of distro. I am grateful for the ease of use and all the wonderful tools that are easily installed. I never feel like I am hindered by the environment beyond proprietary vendors that don't support Linux.

If I turn the TV off, the Switch automatically enters sleep mode, and the controllers turn off. Then when I press the home button on the controller, the Switch wakes up, and in turn wakes up the TV.
Is that some HDMI feature? It has to be I guess?
(I never had HDMI before so it's newfangled to me.)

further clarification: of the special boards posted above, they both use Matias Quiet click switches; one is birch with Apple AEKII caps and the other is acrylic (open sides) with caps from an Apple IIgs.

the other boards will be laser cut birch with blank black DSA keycaps and Kailh switches. I can do one with Box white clicky switches and one with Burnt Orange quiet; (first come first serve) and the others will use Speed Copper quiet switches.

make it $350 and you can claim one of these one-of-a-kind boards that use vintage 1980s Apple keycaps (some key labels do not match the key they're on which kind of adds to the wacky charm)

* I can only ship within the US
* it will probably take more than a month to finish, test, and send out

There is a Swedish company named Kan.
"Kan" is also the Swedish word for "can."
This makes Google think that queries about Kan's products are actually questions.

People are also asking:
• Can toilet seat wood?
• Can toilet seat soft close?
• Can toilet lid?

Extremely good cloudberry season!
The pickers flown in from the other side of the world (because that's cheaper for us) are picking so much!
There won't be a berry left and we'll make so much money!

No comment about whether it's good to extract as much berries as you possibly can, or to fly people around the world to do it, or anything at all.
