…I’m seeing people say “just don’t use an iPhone.” It’s not that simple when everyday things like financial apps with two-factor authentication are locked into the two main platforms.
We need legislation to ensure critical services use open standards so you can use your Pinephone to buy lunch in the future.
It’s shocking how easily some folks jump to “just go live in a cave.” No, that’s not an acceptable alternative. We deserve to partake in modern life without sacrificing our human rights…

Oh. I also had to replace a deck board while I was at it. Good times. Good times.

We took a short trip with the kiddo, but came home a day early as none of us were getting sleep. So I finally had time to deal with a bit of a rot problem on our deck. It took the standard 3 extra trips to the hardware store. I'm mostly amazed I was able to do demolition without causing more damage. The bad state of the wood helped quite a bit. You could tear a lot of it apart with your bare hands. I'm glad I got it done, but there's always more to do. Buh.

Another milestone for #Rust — it has WTF code too!

Know a teenager in the U.S. who wants to get vaccinated—for anything, not just COVID-19–but whose parents won’t allow it?
https://www.vaxteen.org/ exists to help them out. There’s resources for both trying to convince the parents and state-by-state information for speaking authoritatively with medical staff about their rights. In some states the age of medical consent to vaccination is 13!

I've always been curious about the whole neo amiga scene, but I've always had a hard time diving in and the documentation is a little impenetrable to me.
Any good resources for beginners?
Boosts welcome.

Should I get Skyward Sword for Switch?
Have never played it.
I wonder if/how it affects biking when the popular map apps either don't provide biking directions at all (Apple) or provide very incorrect directions (Google) here.
If you're familiar with the area I guess you don't need directions, and there's paper bike maps to be had for free (but who uses those anymore,) but it's a university town with people from many different places.

I think everyone I know with a Switch has had controller issues, and it hasn't even been around for long. As far as I can tell there were no class-action lawsuits over NES controllers breaking for everyone, and those were definitely a thing in the 1980s. I guess some lucky USian Switch-players will get $2.14 and some lawyers will get a few million because of this.
Revali's Gay is now ready
How come NES controllers almost as old as me still work but these 2 year old Joy-Cons are going increasingly bongos. At least the regular buttons should be as durable, but they're not.
