My laptop will power my big keyboard's LEDs while on battery, but then I can't type, and those seem like good priorities to me.

I think @WhichUK@twitter.com should do an article services using the dark pattern of letting you subscribe to something online but requiring a phone-call during office hours to cancel.
Like uh, @WhichUk@twitter.com does.

If you really want to cure your arachnophobia, there's an augmented reality app that might help. The fact that they're charging for it makes me suspicious, though.
It would definitely be cheaper to come hang out in my lab.

Anyway, about a decade ago Her Name is Calla joked that they'd be releasing their next album on wax cylinder and Gameboy cartridges and I worked with their drummer to put this together for the shits and gigs, it's not been online anywhere for some years now.
Here's the original song, for anyone interested (it's gooood): https://hernameiscalla.bandcamp.com/track/condor-and-river

- The video starts with me putting a cartridge for a made-up game titled "Calla" into a Gameboy and the rest of the video is a Gameboy game animation of a character acting out some scenes inspired by the lyrics of the song. It ends with the game crashing and me removing the cartridge to blow on it (remote)

Recommendation algorithms serve the interests of the corporations deploying them over the people who are bombarded by them while going about their business.
I prefer the voluntary recommendations I get from my fellow (trusted) human beings who want to share something they found interesting, exciting, or edifying. Often spontaneously, but usually only when prompted.
If recommendation algos have to exist, they should only be something a person voluntarily and explicitly goes to for suggestions.

I joined Igalia almost two years ago, in which I did and continue to learn so many fascinating things, about language specification, about WebAssembly, about JS engines and compilers. But most importantly, about taking common decisions and truly working together as equals.
As I told my dear coworkers:
"Enjoying one's work is a fine thing, but being able to share common goals and such collegiality with you Igalians is certainly a dream come true."
