Can programs just record the screen without a system permissions dialog on Windows?
Had to fiddle with Chromium for screen sharing to work and giving it permission is not mentioned in any help that I could find.

Some good news:

A years-long project to develop a systematic way to clean the Great Pacific Garbage Patch finished an important test a couple of days ago. It removed a large amount of plastic. Like, so much that with about 15 additional copies of that test equipment, the entire patch could be cleaned in a few years.

RT @ImprobableIsland "Terry, what the shit is going on?" you ask.

"I'm your FanClan fan for today," says Terry. "There's a fan under your neck, an air movement sensor synced with my laptop, and the Cloud takes care of the rest."

"A cloud? Do you mean, like, a server?"

"Not a cloud, the Cloud. All FanClan's data is stored in the Cloud."

Sometimes I really want to respond to your discussion threads with "NERDS!", but in that joyful, friendly way that lets you know I really think you're awesome and that I am also some kind of nerd, and it's great. But I don't think it works well in a text only medium between people of diverse cultural backgrounds who only know each other online if at all, so instead I'll subtoot about it.

You got the day off? Take the time to go listen to Indigenous peoples, because ^--- literally your government is drowning out their voices with sirens.

What's gonna follow is yet another link dump. (Here's an earlier one, related to the child war prisons that were maintained prior to using adoption services and foster care to conduct genocide: https://ecosteader.com/@emsenn/106483402115361653)

(And here's a bunch of links about decolonization, for good measure, since some of yall white folk seem keep to call yourself decolonial even though you cant tell me whose land youre on: https://emsenn.substack.com/p/i-touched-a-nerve)

Compilers for typed programming languages should have an option to insert a panic wherever there's a type error, instead of rejecting the program.
Then those who don't like types can run their ill-typed programs, and find errors at runtime instead, and everyone is happy.
