- Screenshot from the man page for column: "Historical versions of this tool indicated that "rows are filled before columns" by default, and that the -x option reverses this. This wording did not reflect the actual behavior, and it has since been corrected (see above). Other implementations of column may continue to use the older documentation, but the behavior should be identical in any case." (remote)

took a peak at my birdSite account for the first time in days... it is full of spam about bitcoin & ugly vitriol. my account there is getting to be like FaceSpace is for me: a service I'll check in on every month or so to see if there is personal stuff from folks I know who only use it... but that's probably all for me.
this poor little rich child has ruptured webs of social affiliation woven by many millions of people through that site. it is sad to see, but so it goes.

a reasonably wind- & rain-free morning, so after a cemetery walk time for a bit of roof dancing. disassembled 6m dipole 📡 (& tripod) which winds brought down a few weeks ago, & shifted feedline down to back yard.
supposed to rain this afternoon, so will put off raising temporary mast & new 6m vertical-and-radials 📡 in back yard to test. the folks I usually chat with on 6m are about directly in line w my endfed, which means about 90° off. tired of using 100w .

interesting thread, have to think about what they say in light of what I know about ‘scale free networks’ and what I have observed of similar arrangements (like ‘newsgroups’ in the pre-IP days of uucp and phone-line-based networking/sharing).
IMHO recommendation norms & systems, deliberately wrought or informally formed, are key to understanding these webs of sociability.
