- The plot shows the time series of the new accounts in mastodon per day. Before the purchase of Twitter by Musk the daily new accounts in Mastodon were around 4k per day. After the purchase and after every ban/suspension/layoff in Twitter we see an spike in the number of new accounts. Right now it seems that the number of new accounts per day is around 50k. We also see some (smaller) spikers in the number of daily new accounts after the Journalist's account suspension on Dec 15th and the Banning of other social media links on Dec 18th. But those are much smaller than the spike after Musk's Twitter 2.0 ultimatum on Nov 17th. (remote)
