I know the audience for it is not everybody, but I like my little Phish bot and I am always stoked when updates work correctly because it's hard to test when they're not actually playing a show. Anyway as of last night @helpingfriendlybot is working successfully on Mastodon

- Wallets linked to Sam Bankman-Fried's Alameda Research unexpectedly begin selling off $1.7 million in tokens Wallets known to be controlled by Alameda Research, the crypto trading firm founded my Sam Bankman-Fried and currently in bankruptcy with the other FTX companies, suddenly began selling off large quantities of mostly small altcoins on December 28. Whoever controls the wallets swapped the tokens for Tether stablecoins or Ethereum, then tumbled the funds through cryptocurrency mixers — a strong sign that this was probably not just the FTX liquidators consolidating wallets. Altogether, an estimated $1.7 million was moved through various services to obfuscate the flow of funds. (remote)

“During a brief scuffle between a soldier and a Lakota man who refused to surrender his weapon, the rifle fired, alarming the rest of the troops. The troops began firing on the Lakota, many of whom tried to recapture weapons or flee the assault. The attack lasted for more than an hour and left more than 300 Lakota dead; over half of those killed were women, children, and elderly tribal members, and most of the dead were unarmed. “

Perhaps some kind of co-op structure where contributors have some weighted say on (e.g.) direction? 🤷♂️
I've sometimes wondered if there really is an (real) alternative to capitalism when it comes to promoting progress (giving people what they want) while rewarding those who put in the work and risk, on a large scale ...
Perhaps Fedi (e.g. Mastodon) vs company-owned for-profit social networks (e.g. FB,TW) will provide (some of) that answer.
Or, the former might become the latter (“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain”) 😆
