The tech press is covering this very poorly.

This suit is an admission that Apple's browser sucks so much that it must be protected by anti-competitive policies.

The impressive thing about Apple is that they flip regulators the bird with absolutely zero concern about how it will make them look, if they're right, or if what they argue is good for society:

Anyway, if you're ever driving through Montana on I-90, at some point you're driving over where my dad's childhood home used to be.

Random fact about my dad. When he was a kid, his family's property was taken via eminent domain so they could build I-90 (or perhaps an earlier highway that eventually became I-90). I mainly know this because he'd point out the section where he used to live whenever we drove over it. He remembers well connected families getting better deals for their property than his own family. He still gets angry about it when the topic comes up.

I do not trust myself to write software without some form of type checking. And I prefer more typing (ex: nullability, generics) when it is available.

This comes from a long history of realizing just how many errors end up coming down to type errors -- some piece of data was in a state I didn't account for or expect, because no type system was present to document and enforce its proper states.

Relatedly, I trust other programmers less when they say they do not ...

TIL about dancers Alexander Sakharoff and Clotilde von Derp via this fantastic portrait of Sakharoff by Alexej von Jawlensky. That painting is so intense I feel that if you held up dry paper to it the paper might catch on fire.

(Marked media as "sensitive" as the portrait has intense eye contact.)
