Regular reminder that "less lines of code" DOES NOT necessarily equal "less logical complexity".

Aim for the latter, not the former! Nobody with any real engineering experience cares if your code is verbose. People care if your code is structured, safe, predictable, auditable.

Do right by users while you can.

Remember: the JS-first crowd admitting that they had no fucking idea how the browser works is, at time and all places, a redeemable token.

They do not undersatand.

They are proud of it.

If you don't nope out, they'll f your product too.

Look, it's fun to taunt the JS uber ales kidz for their ridiculous misunderstandings of how browsers, networks, and CPUs actually work, but I think it's important for us to remember how dumb they were about garbage collection and hidden class transition overhead.

If you buy another lemon from these complexity merchents, in 2023, it's univocal proof that you're a *terrible* manager:

A number of folks have reached out to us over the past few months asking how they could help Mastodon out. Unfortunately, we haven't had the capacity to accept those kind offers at the time.

If you're interested in getting involved as a volunteer, please fill out this form (and share it around!) so we know who could help with what. (There is plenty that needs doing!)

Folks, don't reward B.S. artists that are unrepentant about selling you a lemon used Hummer when you finally decide to get an EV.

Even if they have 'em on the lot, I promise, they're still f'ing you *somehow*.
