Something I didn't include in my splenetic overview of the modern frontend landscsape is how the overwhelming odour in any conversation with a large group of frontend developers in 2023 is rank immaturity.

Your tools are not your identity. Your preferences are not success. Users define what works and what does not; your "DX" is a sub-footnote in the evaluation of product quality.

The infantilised version of our discourse, where users are not front and center, is toxic nonsense.

It's 🤯 to recall that React was a licensing cesspool for, like, 4 years? I guess being a governance black box and a responsibility-free zone is just a continuation:

"Hundreds if not thousands of foreign veterans and volunteers have passed through Ukraine. Many of them, like Mr. Milburn and his group, are hard-living men who have spent their adult lives steeped in violence, solo fliers trying to work together in a very dangerous environment without a lot of structure or rules."

we've foolishly made a cult of being a "warrior", and forgotten that is not the same as a "professional soldier"

I had missed this (perfect) description of React (et. al.) "DX" focused tools as a subsidy from users to developers; a regressive tax, if you will:
