It is debilitating to realise that, anti-capitalist as I might be in my better moments, I can never aspire to losing major brands mountains of benjamin's the way the JS community has over the last decade.

If you're a web developer and, like me, hope for a future for an open, capable, and interoperable web, know that the people doing the most to make that a reality over the past several years have been doing it nearly full time without pay.

Saw a South Asian couple awkwardly looking around and recognised it as “can someone help?” so I asked if they wanted me to take their photo. Instant regret: never have I felt so old 😜:

1. They wanted me to take a video
2. They wanted the video to be taken in *portrait* mode

(1) I could *kinda* see (still took multiple photos for them as I shot the video …)… (2) still makes me feel dirty :P

The couple were otherwise super sweet and thankful :P

You don't need to vilify Apple to understand that the web's mantra of "this is for everyone", and Apple's belief that "this is for everyone that makes >= $45K/yr" are, for most of the world's population, not the same thing.

These fully self-driving electric vehicles are pretty neat, and thanks to a boring technology, they don't even get stuck in traffic!

This is an important piece; it's also a reason why real browser competition can't come to iOS soon enough. When Apple gets it wrong, the market needs to be able to sort it out:

My #HomeKit after the "reliability" "upgrade" to Matter is unable to pair with Nanoleaf Shapes panels any more.
Endless mess of 'unknown error', 'operation in progress', factory resets, reboots, and LEDs blinking.

In short, I do not recommend trying HomeKit in #iOS 16.4.
