“In the quest for high-calorie food, bears sometimes stumble upon other substances. In October 2020, a man in Cotopaxi, Colo., reported that a bear had raided an outdoor freezer, making off with marijuana edibles, said Joseph Livingston, a public information officer for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. (Planning ahead, perhaps, the animal also took French fries.)”

interesting: “The Russian military command has likely cut off Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin’s independent access to artillery shells and heavy weaponry as part of the effort to professionalize the Russian conventional forces.
Prigozhin may have misrepresented the devastating impact of the lack of artillery ammunition on Wagner to mask his true frustrations with Wagner’s inability to have and operate its own artillery systems.”

95% of panels at events and conferences are a waste of time.

Last week was on one myself and what made it work was the interaction with the audience because of the small, intimate setting. Maybe the audience disagrees, of course 😁

I understand why people are choosing to default to nano as opposed to vi/vim, and I do not oppose these changes. But every time I'm plopped down into nano, it's very jarring. My brain is prepped for vim, not some awkward nano session. Time to set some environment variables or something. 😆

(This toot brought to you by a default behavior in git changing on a recent update.)

“We treat data as taonga, something to be respected and revered. One could argue that data is like a family member, and it is your whakapapa (genealogy). We respect data in that we look after it rather than claim ownership over it. This is similar to how indigenous peoples look after land. We only use data in ways that align with our core values as an indigenous organsation and in ways that benefit the communities from which the data was gathered.”

Three masked activists in baseball caps, sunglasses and masks filmed themselves waving placards… It is not possible to know who the clients were in any of the campaigns, or even what their objective was.”
