Welp, I have too many NFC stickers and can't stop tagging things with them.
Pretty handy for home automation tho 😆

Posted this yesterday, but keep coming back to it; such a clear distillation of why bad performance isn't a factor that is isolated in a single section of the population (even if it's often more concentrated there):

Nathaniel Jeanson tries to explain how scientists didn't produce healthy offspring from two male parents by explaining how they did produce healthy offspring from two male parents. It's all very silly and twisted. Just like Jeanson.

Hear me out: running the build system with a Java installation from a different directory than the project's Android SDK produces erroneous warnings about gradle syntax in the IDE, despite it actually being the same version of Java…
And now forget you ever read this jumble of words because there is no Universe where these problems should exist or make sense. I just flipped some random setting which made warnings go away. That's about as much as I care.

The only way to fix gradle build files was to create a fresh project from a template and borrow the entire structure into the old one. It is *completely different*. From the structure itself to things like renaming properties from "minSdkVersion" to "minSdk". Who cares? Why was it so important?

I suddenly worked myself up to rage-restarting my old Android project[1]. Unfortunately my rage is consumed mostly on wrestling the mess that is Android SDK + Gradle + IntelliJ. It's an incomprehensible mess that has a habit of bitrotting every two weeks and demand some updates and changes out of the blue. And I haven't touched for more than a year. So much crap cruft.
