This feels like a fairly specific advice from CNN.

Yes, I'm upset about this.
It's very much is a subtoot of the Deloitte / Accenture / IBM / CGI / SMX / Palantir axis of derp.
Functionally we deserve much more per buck, even if, morally, we're getting what we're owed.

The most important thing about web performance is being in the shoes of users who MUST but CANNOT access your Silicon-Valley-approved, RFP-certified nonsense
When the trainers and the consultants and the conference organisers are done with you, ya know what's left?
Your system.
That you own.
And must now manage.
Anyway, if your JS hangover includes a public sector service, please reach out in DMs. I'll charge zero money and tell nobody.
I fucking love my team at work.

Just scanned my lecture doodle from yesterday and tried to edit out the light blue pen, which I used for sketching.
Just one of those drawings when you start with no solid idea in your mind and just see where things go.

- Half body pen drawing of a woman with long flowing hair, wearing a kind of loose toga. Her hair is up in a pony tails and a braid crowns her head, decorated with a few flowers. She is holding a bundle of wheat in front of her, laid against her left shoulder, her head tilted towards it. She is turned sideways, looking away from the viewer. She is shaded in warm beige. Behind her a warm yellow rectangle is placed for contrast, decorated with a simple border. (remote)

...OK I actually had Chat-GPT answer a question I couldn't find on google/duck because between SEO spam and search engines ignoring half your query terms nothing I got was of any use.
`What does `box !!T` do in CIL?` -- specifically what is the significance of the '!!' is what I wanted to know.
I verified the answer was correct (it was) so hooray for Chat-GPT probably knowing the dotnet ECMA standards.

Maybe the lyrics don't quite match the video, but in my head, the video is the canonical meaning of the song. 😆

- Animated comparison between the Hubble and JWST observations of the Hubble Ultra Deep field. The first image has a caption on the bottom that says, “Hubble UDF (exposure time: 11.3 days)”, while the image on the second has a caption on the bottom that says “Webb (exposure time: 0.83 days)”. The first image shows thousands of galaxies with many different colors. Most are orange and yellow while others are white and blue. Many of these galaxies appear as fuzzy ovals, but others look thin and long or have distinct spiral arms. Within the image is a yellow box, angled about 30 degrees off center, which contains a label on its bottom right that says “Webb’s field of view”. The second image shows a box with the same angle. Inside this box are many of the same galaxies seen in the box on the first image in different colors. The orange galaxies on the first image are white or yellow on the right. There are a few galaxies spread throughout the right image that are clearer than those on the left. (remote)

One weird trick for improving your web performance!
Develop an understanding of your system such that you can answer *"what is this for?"* regarding any significant fraction of critical path latency.
Good performance is downstream of mastery, which is why complexity is the enemy of going fast: every increment of complexity requires that the team (minimally: all PMs and senior engineers) develop a deep understanding of the new complexity.
You cannot abstract understanding.
