Posting this one in English, so I can reach more #StarTrek fans =)

I'm running a Star Trek Adventures game for some friends and I comissioned a musician friend of mine to write us an opening theme. Then, I went ahead and whipped up an opening sequence inspired by TNG, SNW, LD and VOY, especially.

I think @punkonbus1701 and @jordanlafordan might find it interesting!

I will admit that in the twilight of twitter I'd started to think that "text-based social media" might be relegated to a niche interest in the future. (Mastodon, a community that I've enjoyed for a very long time, is kind of a niche!)

I'm surprised at how buoyed I feel by other platforms' success in this area, and tbh I feel like it'll benefit Mastodon in the long run.

All the Koei-Tecmo musou games are surprisingly expensive on the steam golden week sale. Tho I guess I've been spoiled by the time I got a Wii U copy of Warriors Orochi 3 for $8 on clearance at Toys R Us (RIP)

Hetzner has ARM-based servers!

I really like that, because now I can build on an M1 Mac and deploy on an Ampere VPS, without having to cross-compile for x86.

hm, in retrospect, 2016 ended my relationship with (new) Apple. I treated myself to a new lower-end laptop that year and the keyboard was so bad that it felt like entirely wasted money (+ having only a single usb-c port made it useless with other devices)

and THEN they announced they'd be removing headphone jacks from their phones and I didn't update my phone for 6 years after. My new phone doesn't have a headphone jack, but it's also not an Apple

I meant to be finishing a post about books I'm reading but I got distracted and wrote ~2500 words about Mastodon and Bluesky and the related things (welcoming design, insular culture) I've been stewing on for a few months

And also about vegetarian meat substitutes in the 1980s, which were *really something*

The German language is actually quite veggie:

Da haben wir den Salat (There we have the salad) = What a mess!

Gurkentruppe (cucumber troop) = bad team

Tomaten auf den Augen (tomatoes on the eyes) = blinded

Bohnenstange (bean stick) = tall person

Spargel (asparagus) = thin person

Erbsenzähler (pea counter) = nitpicker

Interessiert mich nicht die Bohne (I'm not interested a bean)= I don't care at all

wie Kraut und Rüben (like cabbage and turnips) = messy

Enjoy our langveg!

@NfNitLoop nothing *specifically* stupid, just the sheer amount of takes on what it is, who runs it, how people there are mean to Fediverse, how Fediverse is lacking compared to that, how… etc. And some of these opinions are pretty smart, I don't deny it. But I find the whole #bluesky to be largely inconsequential, because it's yet another centralized network which is only interesting because it's small enough, and it's going to go through all the ways all these systems go to collapse.
