Yesterday @bcantrill and I offered a rebuttal to the AI doomerism that has been gaining volume. Hoo-boy, this one had some range! Heaven’s Gate, ceteris paribus, WWII, derpy security robots, press-fit DIMM sockets, async Rust, etc. And optimistic as always: the hardware and systems AI doomers imagine are incredibly hard to get right; let’s see AIs help us before we worry about our own obsolescence!

Exciting news! #FormulaE is going to be streamed on Roku, without any intermediaries, as far as I understand. I used to watch it a few years ago when they had been publishing full races on YouTube, but then some broadcasting scammers put their "exclusive" fingers on the scales and that stopped. And I'm definitely not subscribing to a cable.
Looks like I'll be wasting a lot more time on sports, considering I recently also found how to watch snooker online.

So after wading into the debate yesterday based on an article written by @ploum (and posted by @dangillmor), and the larger #fedipact controversy, I decided to share a slightly more coherent version of my thoughts. I still think unnecessary #gatekeeping and preemptive #bans suck and will cause a helluva lot more damage to the protocol than Meta likely will, but as always, hope others who differ in their thoughts will engage in some healthy debate, and not just resort to calling me a troll for having a different opinion than them.
