I know the fact that the Windows lock screen tries to clickbait you into clicking their little descriptive tags on whatever picture isn't that big of a deal, but it just infuriates me because it speaks to everything that is wrong about modern Windows.
In modern Windows, you're stuck in this adversarial relationship with your own OS. It's trying to get you to use a browser you don't want, or services you don't want, or send data you don't want to send to people you don't want to have it. It's never respecting your consent; the button is never "No", it's always "Maybe Later". Everything is built to make you do what they want, not what YOU want.
Even if you don't use Linux every day on your desktop (I still don't, for complicated reasons), it's hard to imagine not at least rooting for them. I want Linux to do better and better every year, and it *is*, and that delights me. Apps "just work" more and more often, and gaming is way, way better. Honestly, thank goodness it exists, for so many reasons.
