Discord has a way to block people, and a way to mute channel notifications, but I want a way to mute people. There are some people that I find annoying enough that I would rather opt in to seeing their messages, but who are not so objectionable that I need to prohibit all communication in any context

Being in the non-mainstream Vue/Nuxt and Web Components camp, my opinions are obvious. I'm not sharing this to rattle sabers, but because I think Josh makes a great point that the weird/hard stuff in React simply aren't problems in other (modern) frameworks.
