But make the text legally water-tight, and then sue them into discontinuing their #piracy?
Rinse, repeat for every thieving concern out there (though some of the new ones will be more difficult to catch than Google Books).

For the past few years whenever there's a Pokemon World Championship they usually distribute a copy of one of the winner's pokemon as a mystery gift.
Sometimes this results in getting a shiny arcanine but mostly it means that I have like half a dozen completely unused gastrodons in cherish balls

Actually, one major thing that makes at least the first Death Mark ghost less scary? You know exactly what it is (a ghost) and you learn exactly how to deal with it via an urban legend before you even get anywhere near it.
The paranormal things in Echo are all different and there's no instant way of knowing what their intentions are or how to deal with them

In terms of craft, Echo is less well-polished in basically every way but Death Mark is kinda leaving me cold

Visited Taos Pueblo yesterday and learned about the siege and ultimate destruction of the original church by the US Army in 1847 as part of their campaign to put down an uprising. The different stories told by the indigenous tour guide (and corroborated by local journalists - women and children massacred) compared to what appears on the Wikipedia page (150 “rebels” killed) is striking.
