Women were not passive gatherers, but active hunters in ancient times, according to a new study. The study challenges the myth that hunting was a male-dominated activity, and that women only collected plants and cared for children. The study also criticizes the gender stereotypes and biases that have influenced the interpretation of archaeological and ethnographic data. #women #hunting #archaeology https://www.jpost.com/archaeology/article-753954

‘Seth Stern, advocacy director at Freedom of the Press Foundation, a nonprofit that advocates for the rights of journalists and whistle-blowers, said federal law allowed the police to search journalists when the authorities have probable cause to believe the journalists had committed a crime unrelated to their journalism. That exception does not apply, however, in a case where the alleged crime is gathering the news, he said. When journalists are suspected of committing crimes as part of news gathering, the government’s option is to serve a subpoena, which can be challenged in court before it is enforced.

“You can’t say, ‘I’m allowed to raid the newsroom because I’m investigating a crime,’ if the crime you’re investigating is journalism,” he added.’

Every peruvian gooseberry (aka: #goldenberry) bush in my garden has a #treefrog or three lounging within. Thankfully they're eating many of the destructive flea beetles, fruitflies, leafhoppers and slugs that could ruin the delectable crop. In return for their service they get shade, easy meals and protection from predators. A win win situation.

yall, everything about this story is hilarious:

  1. driverless cars piled up in north beach, SF, blocking loads of traffic: "The cars sat motionless with parking lights flashing for 15 minutes, then woke up and moved on, witnesses said."
  2. cruise (GM) blamed the outside lands music festival, sayig that the cell networks were overloaded & the cars couldn't function. (this is so pathetic)
  3. literally, the day before this, the california public utilities commission allowed a huge expansion of driverless cars in SF
  4. SF emergency services were begging the commission to NOT expand the number of driverless cars because they already impact their ability to do their jobs.
  5. one of the commissioners who voted to expand the number of cars used to be the head lawyer for cruise. lol. LOL.
