@xevix I already hate the stupid knob (:p) that dips into my screen real estate at the top edge.
Got a new laptop for work.
Accepting any and all tips for setting up a nice 2023 dev env (incl terminal), esp. welcome are tips for setting up a Java dev env on an M2.
cc @xevix hope you get "commission" for this :p

“The major flaw of Signal for privacy is that it works by using your phone number. This can be problematic if you prefer not to share your phone number for certain communications. If you want to keep your phone number secret, I would recommend using a different messaging app. However, this is the only scenario in which I would recommend something else than Signal.”

Signal is becoming one of the most popular ways for newsrooms to get tips. It's easy enough to set up on your personal device, but having an institutional tip account is another thing entirely.
Here's how to overcome challenges when setting up @signalapp tiplines, based on a recent case study with @publicsource and our @freedomofpress digital security training team's previous experience. https://freedom.press/training/blog/signal-tiplines/

Here's a question for internet sleuths/Uruguay religion experts:
What is the source for 2021 data here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Uruguay ?
The most recent source cited is 2019 & the Spanish version of this page lacks any 2021 data references. For anyone curious why I'm trying to make sense of a flawed Wikipedia page, religious trends in Uruguay are inconsistent across other surveys. If there's a high-quality 2021 survey with these #s, it could help confirm the actual change over time.

That was first introduced in Europe by German financial companies like Sofort and was always controversial in infosec community, but the business liked it 🤷EU PSD2 directive civilised it a bit by introducing mandatory B2B APIs for banks to exchange such information, which is how account migration and linking became possible, but I’m sure they have some kind of grace period and not sure if sharing of credentials was outright banned there.

I'm shocked that banking and trading web apps routinely ask for full login credentials to link external accounts. Just like that: "Provide login and password to your bank [recommended]". I'm shocked how widespread this is.
And then we wonder why people get constantly phished on the Internet: because nobody could be expected to see as suspicious something that your *bank* *recommends* you to do.
I'd vote for any politician who will at least talk of making it illegal.
