Thing is, he always starts out with such condemnation, then disappoints us with the number of years in the sentence.

Sigh.

The Enterprise is sent to check in on a hitherto lost colony, founded by idealists who have based their planet's entire culture and society around a curious early 21st holy text called "The Agile Manifesto". Data and Wesley break the warp core again.

#TIL that diners were named and modeled after train dining cars, because that's what the first diners were: dining cars just set up somewhere permanent.

And all the motifs – the open kitchen, booth seating, frequent art deco elements, simple menu – have just maintained long past their original context, like the save icon of restaurants or something.

til you don't need to store sendemail.smtppass in your .gitconfig because it will fetch it from git-credential

git-credential can invoke various helpers to obtain the password:

  • a normal password dialog (ssh-askpass)
  • from a cleartext file (git-credential-store)
  • from a cache (get-credential-cache)* from other helpers, extensible with scripts!

so i can totally make git automatically use my favorite password manager https://www.passwordstore.org/

It seems for every post I see critical of ML generators, there's a population of people who come by to defend these business practices:

"ML generators are only doing what people have always done." [expectation that exploiting labor is the norm and good].

"There's nothing we can do anyway." [learned hopelessness].

Because it is difficult to limit screen time in general in today’s world of electronic devices, it may be beneficial to identify and limit the screen time aspects that are associated with developmental delays while taking advantage of the educational aspects… the information we collected did not allow us to separate educational screen time from other types of screen time. Doing so may have helped us in examining the association between screen time and child development while considering both positive and negative aspects of screen time.”
