It's a very liberating experience of not running your local tools as open-source projects. No tests, no VCS, no releases, no version bumping, no separate step of "installing" from a package index of something you just fixed yourself. And no risk of provoking stupid bikeshedding by a simplest of change.

(That said, I'm happy to share my script for posting photos from #Darktable to Mastodon if anyone's interested.)

I was looking for a shiny blipbug but I'm not complaining, especially since this has a sleepy mark as well.

While history often remembers John Brown’s assault on the Federal Arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia, it forgets 5 Black Americans who joined him, including a man named Dangerfield Newby. Dangerfield Newby’s motivation for joining Brown was rooted in his love for his family,. His story is a powerful reminder of the enduring struggle for freedom by ordinary people. They are worthy of remembering.

“One can see this book as a portrait of a generation that dreamed that new drugs and free sex would bring about a fresh dawn and the rise of homo superior, wandering the world of the generation before them like magical children walking through an abandoned city—through the ruins of Rome, or Athens, or New York: that the book is inhabiting and reinterpreting the myths of the people who came to be known as the hippies. But if that were all the book was, it would be a poor sort of tale, with little resonance for now. Instead, it continues to resonate.”
