I'm not usually one to complain about fresh redesigns, but Slack's latest update completely removes custom color themes, and that is 100% bullshit.

I just don't even understand how you can go from years and years of supporting any color the user wants to just...snatching that feature away and replacing it with a dumbed-down palette.

Reminder, because I keep seeing it repeated: Nobody is calling for a boycott on Bandcamp, *especially* not on #BandcampFriday. Boycotting Bandcamp does NOT send a message to the new management, all it does is hurt the musicians who depend on Bandcamp for their livelihood.

ESPECIALLY on Bandcamp Friday, where all of the money goes to the musicians and none of it goes to Bandcamp itself!

Boycotts aren't always the requested or correct course of action when it comes to corporate malfeasance.

These photons then collided with each other and produced electron-positron pairs, which were detected by the STAR detector at RHIC. The scientists analyzed more than 6,000 such pairs and found that their angular distribution matched the theoretical prediction for matter creation from light.

I think "information workers" that don't generally have good measures of their "productivity" are susceptible to making judgements on whether something improves their productivity* on vibes alone. * Putting aside for the moment the unhealthy nature of a culture that prizes productivity above all else.

I need your advice:

- Who to follow?

- Also How to advertise to everyone that my Mastodon instance, https://mastodon.symbolic.software, is now accepting sign-up requests? It will be curated; we're hoping to be a high quality instance with lots of thoughtful content and discussions on security and tech, and as little shitposting as possible.
