Even though neither Loom nor Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade shipped with Hercules graphics support, the Passport to Adventure demo CD offers a Hercules video option. Which means you can check out both games (along with Secret of Monkey Island, which did support Hercules) in glorious green & black to see what might have been.

(The scaling artifacts on the text are from the original game, not from DREAMM. Guessing they didn't put too much work into cleaning up that stuff for a rather niche market.)

On the bright side, Twitter and Facebook's recent shenanigans may be leading to a reevaluation of what these platforms are actually worth, both financially and to us as a society.

I suspect it's a lot less than the going-price in recent years.

Meanwhile, regulators continue to completely not care about regulating the credit bureaus. Specifically, Experian.

Last summer I wrote about how a ton of Experian accounts were getting hacked when ID thieves would simply create a new account using the target's personal info but with a new phone # and email, and Experian's website would be like, okay, sure, so you're the new owner. No problem. We'll just lock out the old user and give them no way to get back in. Except to, yeah, create another profile. And on it goes.

Well, it looks like Experian is still sitting on its thumbs because someone has hijacked my Experian credit file now.

Thinking about it some more, the fundamental flaw with CoPilot is that the goal is to make it faster and easier to generate code.

As a programmer, you don't want to generate code.

You want to solve problems, and the less code involved the better. I don't want tools that will generate repetitive code, I want less repetition.

https://github.blog/2022-09-07-research-quantifying-github-copilots-impact-on-developer-productivity-and-happiness/ shows the problem. "Less mental effort on repetitive tasks", sure, but you should be trying to _prevent_ the repetition, not do more of it.

Please read and share.

Peace to you all.

Edit: A shocking update. 108 bodies of Israelis were found in Kibbutz Be'eri, mentioned in my post.

I hate the U.S. Gov't, and I'm seriously not fond of Joe Biden.

But in a colonizer gov't, you take what you can get. If I'm alive, I'm voting for Biden.

Don't be delusional. Not voting, or not voting for Biden for any reason would be incredibly dumb. You'd just be handing the Presidency, Senate and House to the GOP which would usher in the darkest times anyone now alive has ever seen.

You ain't seen nothing yet, just ask Native and Black people just how bad it can get in the USA...
