This article about Mike Johnson and some of the disturbing movements he partakes in makes for some harrowing reading:

(Why is it so many conservative and fascist types have so much time on their hands to plot and scheme and even train to attempt to remake the US into some sort of "Christian" fascist state? Why can't they just be a bunch of people with dead end jobs who don't even have time for their families let alone taking over a country like the rest of us?)

a vnc would be step 0

step 1: I want to think through & build a remote control unit for manual tuning of a magnetic loop antenna while sitting at the xmtr end of the coaxial cable... which basically means using a remote control wire to activate a servomotor to turn a shaft and adjust a big-ass air-gapped capacitor at the antenna end of the coax.

Bluesky crosses the mark for 2 million accounts

Bluesky has now 2 million accounts, crossing the milestone 2 months after reaching the one million mark. It is a great eye-catching headline about a network in growth, doubling its user base in two months, and going from 500k to 800k daily posts. But underneath it all, the numbers are quite a bit more mixed.

Looking at the amount of posts that people make on the platform, there is little growth in the same time period at all. The following graph shows the amount of posts per day, in thousands.

There are a few things of note here: September 20th was in inflection point of the network; this was the day that Elon Musk floated the idea of charging everyone to use X. This lead to a massive increase in signups, as well as a great boost in posts per day.

After that moment, total posts per day has not increased anymore, even though the network grew from 1.1m accounts to 2m accounts. If we look at posts per day per account:

There is a clear downwards trend visible in the amount of posts per user per day. This indicates that people continue to sign up for the network, but that the network does not manage to retain the new users into actually contributing and posting.

hmmmm, maybe I can use a VNC connection from my phone & the flrig meters-display on my laptop to monitor/adjust the pwr, key/unkey the xmtr, and monitor the SWR while I tune a magnetic loop antenna mounted ~6 ft up on a tripod... 50 ft apart

me not having to run back & forth between a magnetic loop antenna and a xmtr ~50 ft away to tune up the sucker would indeed be A Good Thing 📡
