But gosh, Epistemology of the Closet is still fresh. The segregation of "gay studies" out of and away from canonical cultural study is, sadly, still the stage we're in. I cannot stress enough how weird it is that it's 2023 and most of the LGBTQ+ faculty I know (if I know them at all) are closeted at work, at least to students. Many others have simply left the profession. And for primary and secondary teachers? I had like 10 out gay teachers before college; none of my students have had even one.
