When a dev uses the word "magic," 90% of the time, they mean "a thing that I can't be bothered to learn."

It's a handy trick that allows ignorance to be blamed on the subject, for existing outside previous knowledge, instead of on the student's unwillingness to learn.

The national election protection hotline (I do legal volunteer work for them) asked me to share information about them on social media.

Here is their website: https://866ourvote.org

If you are a lawyer and want to volunteer, there is a place to contact them.

(I like doing back office research, so I spent a few dozen hours last year researching changes in state election laws and writing up summaries so the lawyers working the hotline have the information handy.)

I just genuinely don't understand why anyone still uses React (aside from just legacy decisions that cost too much to undo, I mean).

The only thing it does well (manage state), every other framework on the planet does just as well or better.

Aside from that, React/JSX makes literally everything else about working on the web harder than it was to begin with.
