First, a summary:

Using #ActicityPub and #Mastodon as a launching point, Meta could provide social cloud services that met regulation requirements. Small devs and admins, who couldn't meet it themselves, would be compelled to migrate.

This would first happen through #threads (dot) net.

Meta then offers a revenue-split with its ad network. This aligns with a well-documented #regulatorycapture strategy using a carrot and stick tactic. Where regulation is the stick and ad-revenue the carrot.

Let's talk about "Copy, Acquire, K*ll," #Meta's well-documented version of Embrace, Enhance, Extinguish. 💨

Yesterday I posted to my blog about how Zuck could be gearing up to pivot into social media cloud services.

There was so much info around this, I had to edit the post down to a modest 2,000 words 😅

So I wanted to offer more details in a thread 🧵

It feels like we need "weight classes" for SSGs and projects based on full rebuild times. I'm curious what folks are experiencing, so a quick poll below. If your situation isn't covered, would love to hear more:

What's the throughput of your SSG on the box you work on day-to-day in terms of milliseconds per page generated in a full (clean) rebuild:

There's truth in the Embrace, Enhance, Extinguish theory. But #Meta has its own strategy. It's called Copy, Acquire, K*ll.

I wrote about that strategy as it relates to #threads and #mastodon. I also have some insight for what Zuck might be up to. It's not what you think.

Sooo I defended the federation with #Threads as a way to attract more people to the Fediverse.

During the last weeks I saw Andrew Tate, Libs of TikTok and a bunch of racist weirdos get prioritized in its algorithm.

Then I read Adam Mosseri in an old article mentioning how his team lose "some" sleep about the Myanmar Genocide.
