Crypto cost me my life's savings from theft and scams.

It cost me the last of my optimism when I realised the vast majority of people who claimed to support me as a creator were speculators who turned on me, threatened me and harassed me when they realised my work wasn't designed to be an "asset"

I believe in decentralisation. But right now - that's not what crypto is building. It's almost entirely a wealth generation scheme.

“Former L.A. County deputy sentenced to 30 days in jail for fatal 2019 shooting
A former Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy will serve 30 days in jail in onnection with a fatal 2019 shooting in which authorities fired more than 30 rounds into the back of a moving car, under the terms of a plea deal reached today in a downtown L.A. courtroom.

Andrew Lyons pleaded no contest to assault with a firearm and assault under color of authority in the killing of 24-year-old Ryan Twyman outside a Willowbrook apartment complex in July 2019. The case marks the first time in roughly two decades that an L.A. County law enforcement officer has been sentenced to jail or prison for an on-duty shooting.”

30 days for such horrid lack of professional control & pi** poor firearms discipline that it resulted in someone’s death. 30 lousy days for a life.

These regulators couch their enforcement action in terms of defending an open market, but the benefits to app makers is only incidental. The real beneficiaries of an open app world is *Apple customers*. After all, it's Apple customers who bear the 30% app tax when it's priced into the apps they buy and the things they buy in those apps. It's Apple customers who lose access to apps that can't be viably offered because the app tax makes them money-losing propositions.

6 years ago today our dear friend of 13 years died... our friend who we called "LittleGuy" from when we found him as a skinny adolescent, lurking in the Winter snows. he was a sweet fella, and my buddy.

in the end, LittleGuy developed a brain tumor which which left him blind & deaf & unable to tell which way was up or down. by the end, pretty much the only time he was not crying was when he was cradled in my lap or so zonked from meds he seemed not really there. 💦

sometimes memories are sweet, sometimes not so much. goodbye again, my dear friend.
