Apple are breaking web apps in the EU, because they don't want them and so don't want anyone else to have them either. If this affects you, maybe you want to sign up to our open letter to Tim Cook from @owa and the web community who don't want to see this happen, and think they'll listen. Sabotaging web apps is indefensible. And pass it on. Even Batman agrees, look.

#Bluesky and the #ATProtocol aren't just threats to the #Fediverse. They're threats to #facebook. They threaten #threads and even #instagram, too.

When we acknowledge that, it becomes immediately clear why #Meta is so interested in #ActivityPub and #Mastodon .

It's why so many new nodes and old guard fell in line so fast, and why all the most controversial events around here as of late always somehow benefit Zuck.

Requirements for Japanese text layout. Fascinating document — so many details. Japanese typography has to deal with a combo of four alphabets/syllabaries/logograms, and vertical brush calligraphy mixed with left-to-right latin text influences.

I love the editing part of #blogging.

Restructuring a paragraph so that it flows smoother is so satisfying. I love spending way longer than I should polishing a single sentence, only to allow some poor grammar in the following passage.

I love discovering that sentence or two that so succinctly communicates my message, I move it up from word 800 to my opener.

It's good stuff.

Good news: It probably would have just been an episode on gnuplot anyway -- rivaling in popularity only my short-lived idea of an entire episode on Moby Dick.
