Threads is built on Instagram. Instagram has an API. Meta, then Facebook, literally invented GraphQL. They're not building an API. They're building a fucking federation protocol lol.

So, SO much more to do, but this is an incredible moment and one to celebrate. Amazing work from @owa and friends:

I feel like the quality is so much higher here they just stand out in a way they didn't before, when that sort of thing was just in the water.

What I'm listening to today: "Baby Huey & the Babysitters - Hard Times."

Alright; I had Wednesday off, so I missed the song for that day, and I’m making it up today.

This is Baby Huey & the Babysitters, with "Hard Times." They was a regionally-successful Chicago psychadelic/funk band which was popular in the late 1960s. They had an unstable lineup and their career was cut short by the death of James Ramey (their frontman, who used the stage name "Baby Huey") in 1970. They released a handful of singles and one posthumous album, though the album was mostly the same songs as the singles, and the others were recorded with session musicians. It’s not clear to me whether Ramey even sang on this one or not.

But.

This song absolutely slaps. Wikipedia says it "was influential in the development of hip-hop music," and if you listen to this song, you’ll hear it instantly; it’s startling how much the opening of this song sounds like a rap beat. This is a deep and important cut.
