I spent the last week scraping through a terabyte of GeoCities archives and collecting ALL THE #88x31 buttons! In the end, I gathered 29257 unique buttons (75k with duplicates). They are available at https://hellnet.work/8831/
Check them out!
I also have the dataset (~160MB), stats and a bit about the scraping process here: https://hellnet.work/8831/stats.html

Modern gas burners use a fascinating technology to determine if the fire is on or off: they use electrical current *through* the flame. The flame is actually a conductor, because water is one of the products of hydrocarbon combustion. And it reacts pretty much instantaneous both ways (flame appearing and disappearing), unlike old methods which used heat.

Macrophotgraphy gives us glimpses into countless tiny, alien worlds all around us.
Example: a few months ago, I went on a walk to a waterfall with my camera. On a mist-soaked log nearby, I found this tiny Penthaleid mite happily munching away on a vibrant purple cluster of Kōtukutuku tree fuchsia pollen.
At only a couple of millimetres in length, the mite had no idea I was there, watching it hungrily devouring this feast.

There should be a mildly annoying indicator sound when you leave your car’s high beams on (like the existing one for turn signals).

Apple's frankness is rare but not unheard of. Steve Jobs did the same with flash.
One glaring difference- Tim Cook didn't put his name on the press release.
Considering the second most notorious firings in all of Apple history boiled down Scott Forstall not signing the Maps apology letter, I find that odd.

The App Store, Spotify, and Europe’s thriving digital music market:
