Getting the first wet wipe out of a pack without tearing 10 others apart is an actual superpower.

I typed into the shell something like "start a new rust project called test_integration using cargo" & hit instead of ... it showed a spinner, then asked if it was okay to run "cargo new test_integration && cd test_integration && touch src/lib.rs && echo 'pub fn greet() -> String { "Hello, world!".to_string() }' > src/lib.rs"
and I said OKAY... and it did it right.
it is not how high the elephant flies which is amazing, it is the fact that the elephant flies at all.

I used to wear a wrist brace, for pain from working on a computer all day.
It just occurred to me today that I don't even know where my wrist brace is; I haven't worn it probably since October, when I started using the MoErgo Glove80 keyboard as my main daily driver.
Keyboards like this take a lot of time to adjust to, but if you have RSI from typing (or want to avoid it), I'd definitely say it's worth a look.

I'm behind the news, and I knew Intel was spinning out their FPGA stuff again, but I hadn't heard they completed it. I find it funny they refer to "new" and Altera. I suppose the logo typeface is new.
I suppose this bucks the trend of all the consolidation towards a single semiconductor company, but it's probably just noise. All hail Big Chip...

no, my degrees are neither in systems analysis nor curriculum development, I never attended University of Miami nor University of Rochester, and I am not "Director Health Workforce Development" anywhere.

It's kind of astonishing to me that Google Docs doesn't have a "drop into plaintext" mode with some markdown support. It feels like such a gap in the market, and all we've got is this weird partial markdown support

As a society, we've become overly dependent on Big Tech.
Too many of us have mindlessly adopted the convenient digital tools and services pushed out by Silicon Valley, without considering the consequences.
And we have to start making better choices.

in-app webviews are the worst... somehow i got into a state where twitter.com was loaded in a webview INSIDE the x app with a banner prompting me to open it in x. this would be so confusing to the average person ("but i'm already in the x app and i'm already logged in").
instead of the open web we ended up with apps that each have their own partitioned view of the web

It’s been a while since I crimped Ethernet cables. Thankfully I knew enough to know that these instructions were wrong, so I ignored them and used a different reference.
Only later did I notice that the instructions are *technically correct* but written in a way to be difficult to use/verify. Everyone involved in publishing them should be ashamed.
