I shared this first on my personal Facebook page so that family and close friends can be reminded of the information swirling around may not be true and that scammers pounce on opportunities like this.

There is a lot of misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation (MDM) surrounding the horrific Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore.

- Use your analytical skills when consuming information, especially in a disaster type of situation.
- Don't contribute to the MDM cycle by passing along unverified information.
- Be wary of fundraising campaigns related to the Key Bridge. Scammers are opportunists at times like this.

One of my favorite experiences is when I'm reading and I encounter a sentence that expresses the truth in such a way that I stop like I've faceplanted into a wall. It's so perfect that I need a moment to contemplate it.

On rare occasion, I write a sentence that hits me like that. Can't plan for it. Can't even claim that those sentences are original, because it's a big world and there's a whole bunch of people out there saying things.

But in this last blog post I wrote "Betrayal is the Internet's business model," and... I think I need to go sit down for a few.

I was part of an acquisition at Flywheel, almost exactly five years ago, by WP Engine. "Nothing's changing," they repeatedly assured us.

Today, I can't even find a reference to Flywheel in a cursory search of the company's website. I hear most of its office space has been leased out, and they just went through another round of layoffs.

"Nothing's going to change" might be true in other, less short-sighted industries. But in tech, it's always a lie.

There are few things in the world you should trust *less* than a CEO in an acquisition, promising "things aren't going to change."

Yes they fucking are. You just took VC money. That's how it works. VCs buy things to extract money from them. Change is a VC's goal, and they will fire everyone in your organization and strip mine it down to the copper in the bathrooms without a second thought if it gives them the ROI they want.

I should probably mention, although it all belongs on the blog, that I’ve approved a 1,000 of these to be produced based on the polls I posted here. It’s a conservative number based on the amount of votes, but better sold out than wasted! It’ll take 20 weeks and we’re going to work with a EU and a US warehouse to keep shipping costs lower for most.
