What's preventing #Threads from creating a global index of fediverse posts, then incentivizing the third party mastodon apps to populate their feed with that index?

This feels like an unfortunate analogy.

I think Disgaea 7 probably did pretty badly. I just noticed that it has less than 700 reviews on Steam.
Disgaea 6 has even fewer, but it's at a bit of a disadvantage since it spent a year as a switch exclusive before coming to other platforms

A night scene shows the Moon's reddish descent near the equator and waves aglow with blue bioluminescent plankton on Soneva Fushi Island, Maldives. The Moon appears red due to atmospheric scattering, while plankton emit light to deter predators.

🌸 Commons need long term organized care to sustain them. That's called governance
🌸 The governance of the open source commons has been neglected for a long time, and that burden falls on maintainers
🌸 What if we didn't do that?

This video from Corridor Crew is pretty amazing. They re-create the nearly perfect compositing from the penguin dance sequence in Mary Poppins, which was achieved using high intensity sodium vapor lights and a very custom beam splitter, instead of a blue or green screen. It truly feels like a lost art rediscovered. When the matted footage just perfectly drops in I gasped haha https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UQuIVsNzqDk

The more I read about #ATProtocol, the more I'm fascinated by it. Not so much smitten exactly, but just interested in learning more about its approach.
The way I'm interpreting it, this is how I would expect Zuck's #Metaverse to approach decentralization— limited role of, and radical standardization for servers across the federation. The protocol does all the heavy lifting.
fromjason ("fromjason.xyz 🖤") wrote:
Question for my web nerds— #BlueSky uses a global index "fire hose" and pull method for its #ATProtocol federation. It appears any server can create its own global index but of course, technically and effectively possible are two different things.
Does this approach disqualify BlueSky as "decentralized" social media or "federated"?
I'm trying to define the two terms but I'm finding it surprisingly difficult as I'd have to ignore lots of contradictions.
